Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – Kids Collection
Official Movie Collaboration Window | Max
Overview
This window was created for the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, during which Max held the rights to retail the official kids collection.
The display translated the film's space-driven world into a dimensional retail environment, using layered elements and lighting to build excitement while keeping the collection clearly visible and commercially strong.
The Brief
Translating a Film into Retail
Max needed a window that clearly communicated the official movie collaboration and attracted families during the release period. The initial asset provided was a flat visual with kids wearing the merchandise and space graphics.
The challenge was to create a cinematic, immersive display that captured the energy of the film while ensuring the kids collection remained central, visible, and easy to shop.
Design Approach
From Flat Artwork to Immersive Retail
The initial asset provided was a flat campaign visual.
The window was designed as a layered, dimensional sci-fi environment. Depth was created through structured layering, illuminated edges, and protruding elements that extended beyond the printed surface. Light was used strategically to highlight focal areas and introduce motion, while 3D fabrication and the floor print ensured an immersive experience.
The collaboration was also extended inside the store through mannequin clusters, large-format banners, illuminated wall graphics, and character cut-outs placed across the kidswear section. Stand-alone character units and branded display panels ensured the movie partnership was visible beyond the storefront, creating a cohesive in-store environment.
For lower-budget store formats, the concept was adapted using primarily printed backdrops with select dimensional elements retained.
Key Elements
Product Integration
Blending Merchandise with Visual Narrative
Product integration was executed within the window as well as the fashion island. The printed movie artwork featured kids dressed in the official collection, immediately linking the garments to the film. In addition, selected styles were physically displayed within the window on mannequins and peg boards (wherever possible) to reinforce availability in-store and provide tangible product visibility.
Impact
The campaign created strong visibility for the official collaboration during the film's release period, both at the storefront and in-store.
The immersive window attracted attention, while the interior banners and character units sustained engagement inside the store, reinforcing authenticity and driving awareness of the licensed collection.
By extending the theme across multiple touchpoints, the display strengthened brand association with the movie and supported the commercial positioning of the kids collection.
