Essentially Indian

Window Display Concept | Zivame Summer Campaign

Overview

Essentially Indian was a summer window concept created for Zivame to reinforce its identity as an Indian brand designed for the Indian woman.

The campaign aimed to position Zivame not just as a lingerie retailer, but as a brand rooted in Indian homes and everyday life. The window translated this message into a layered architectural streetscape inspired by neighbourhood houses across India, placing the product within a culturally familiar setting rather than an aspirational one.

The Brief

Zivame as Household Name

The campaign direction was clear: strengthen the perception of Zivame as an Indian brand and embed it into the narrative of everyday Indian households.

My brief was to bring the "Essentially Indian" campaign to life in a retail window in a way that felt culturally resonant, contemporary, and visually arresting. The display needed to communicate belonging, not luxury distance. It had to feel lived in, recognisable, and rooted.

Design Approach

A Stylised Indian Streetscape

I chose to reinterpret Indian homes through exaggerated architectural forms, stacked elevations, and bold colour blocking.

Rather than depicting a literal street, I created a graphic composition of houses layered and placed against one another, inspired by the density, diversity, and visual rhythm of Indian neighbourhoods.

Arches, patterned panels, ornamental doors, and saturated colours were used to evoke the "scent" and spirit of India without becoming theme based or theatrical. The display was constructed in layered depths to create hierarchy and dimension within a limited storefront:

Product Integration

Already Part of the Home

The garments were placed within three dimensional windows and door cutouts embedded into the houses deliberately. Instead of isolating lingerie as a hero product, I rooted it within the architecture itself.

I tried to create the perception that Zivame is not outside the Indian household. It is already inside it. By embedding bras and sets into domestic windows and door frames, the product became part of everyday life rather than an occasion led purchase.

Impact

The window stood out strongly in mall environments due to its colour, scale, and layered depth. It communicated cultural relevance without losing modernity.

More importantly, it supported the larger campaign narrative by visually reinforcing Zivame's positioning as a brand designed for the Indian woman, not adapted for her.
